[14 Juin 2014] Updates Packs GDR Windows 7 SP1

Recommended Posts

1) Take the first one. That's the one I always use.

You don't have to rename it, but obviously the name should be the same that the one in the copy command.

You can edit it with resource hacker to change the icon, and/or compress it with UPX to decrease its size.

2) Yes.

3) Yes, but there is a subtility here: as the module is a 32 bits executable, we must use the variable %%P (bitness variable, specific to the modified module), otherwise the file will be copied in SysWOW64 in 64 bits editions.

There are numerous 7zip SFX guide here and on others forums like MSFN and RyanVM, and you can also read the help found on the site.

I have uploaded all the necessary files in a 7z archive: MRT.7z

Hi,

1) KB2957689 (IE11) replaces KB2953522 not KB2964358.

2) KB 2952664(-v2) was already in the list from 17.05.2014; is this another version or an update?

Hello,

1) No ! Have a look here : KB2957689 supersedes:

  • MS14-021 (KB2964358) on Windows Embedded Standard 7, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, Windows 8, Windows RT, Windows Server 2012, Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2
  • MS14-029 (KB2953522) on Windows XP Embedded

2) Yes, probably an update, even if it's a V2. This update was asked on my both x86 and x64 editions. I had a look on Windows Update catalog, updates are dated on 2014/06/10. So it supersedes the previous one (may 2014).

  • MS14-029 (KB2953522) on Windows XP Embedded

May be, but:

1) The last version of IE11 was with KB2953522 (Mai 2014)

2) Have a look here (Paket details) and here: KB2957689 replaces both! and if you follow back the previous security bulletins you will see KB2964358 has released before KB2953522.

3) If you look at KB2964358 you will see that it has been replaced by KB2953522 and KB2957689.

BTW, in your list from 17-05-2014 KB2964358 is under eliminated (<!-- MAJ supprimées -->).

It's a newer Version, but not too new to get -V3 in the name

the version number in the contained .xml is 6.1.2.1 for the "old" (Mai 2014) and 6.1.2.3 for the new one.

Edit:

It seems KB2952664-v2, dated 10-06-2014, is only available through Windows Update (I didn't find any other sources!).

Anyway if I integrate version 2, dated 09-05-2014, WU does NOT ask for the "newer".

The Update lists will be published at the end of the week, I need first to test them on VM and I don't have the time now.

No problem!

I'm testing now with modified Mai-lists ;).

You can find it via Windows Update Catalog. I modified the link of may to the newer, you'll just need to redownload the last version via WUD. In my both configurations (real machines x64 et x86) WU asked for the newer one, even if the previous one was installed. The lists are ready, I will make some tests this evening.

having some trouble with the download. I've tried downloading x64 part 1 & 2 a few times but every time i try to extract the files with winrar i get this message "The archive is either in unknown format or damaged"

could it be a corrupt download?  part 1 seems very strange it takes 30+ minutes to download but it does not complete at the last second.

edit: tried downloading part 1 again 3 more times on another machine and got the same result.  according to the download progress it downloaded 175mb but it is hanging at the end.  it says the estimated time to complete the download is 1 second, but it has been hanging at 1 second mark.  if i cancel the download with 1 second remaining and try to extract it, then i get the winrar error message above. i left it alone for an hour and when i came back the download had timed out :(

over a 12 hour period i tried 7 or 8 times and it never worked. every single time the same thing would happen.  then i tried using the sendspace 'download manager' and surprisingly it worked the first time. unfortunately the download manager also installed a bunch of junk on my computer, but i wonder why or how it would not let me finish/complete the download all the previous times.

also, when i extracted part 1 and 2 there were 3 additional compressed files.

WUClient-SelfUpdate-ActiveX-x64

WUClient-SelfUpdate-Aux-TopLevel-x64

WUClient-SelfUpdate-Core-TopLevel-x64

i am unsure what to do with these. do i extract them as well? do i just leave them alone?  my hunch is that i can just delete them but i want to make sure.

not sure what you mean by that. i figured WUClient had something to do with windows update downloader.  But do you mean that those 3 files are actually to be used in conjunction with the other microsoft updates in wintoolkit integration?  if they are, then what do i do with them?  add them to updates+ languages?

dareckibmw has already answered, but since you're unsure:

No relation. WUClient means Windows Update Client. It's the update for Windows Update....

But do you mean that those 3 files are actually to be used in conjunction with the other microsoft updates in wintoolkit integration?

Yes.

what do i do with them? add them to updates+ languages?

Yes.

Hello,
