Here is the final tally: Intel DQ45CB motherboard, Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 and (I think) 2x1 GB of DDR2 Ram To replace: ASRock P4VM890, Intel Pentium 4, 2x1 GB DDR1 Ram The thing I love about the DQ45CB mobo is that is has NO legacy crap: PS2, Serial, Floppy, IDE (current DVD-RW needs adapter, hardly ever use it anyways) and the built in graphics are more than enough. Hopefully they arrive before my step father comes home (he does not know when he is coming but it will be soon. Update: He is comming this Tuesday)

WOW you guys, found an even better one (INTEL DQ45CB) at the same price (difference is it can handle up to 16GB of ram, 6 vs 4 sata ports and can do raid)

Thank you guys Currently stalking ebay for motherboard deals, found a ($32) MSI MS-7507 and a ($40) Intel DG35EC. I think I will use my adf.ly $aved and go with the cheaper MSI, Edit: located a cheaper intel, may go with this one because it supports up to 8GB of ram

Correct, the kb article mentions this Now and then Microsoft will mess up (or there is a compromised cert), they will offer it or the revoked certs to Widows 7 users via windows update

Same version as this, different flavor build... I use the business version (that's always #.#.32.#,) it does not have automatic update and other junk
