Microsoft could allow free upgrade to Windows 11
A pre-release build of Windows 11 has just leaked online resulting in many users rushing to install it and to check what is new.
The first test confirmed that Windows 11 can be activated with a Windows 7 product key. This means that Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10 could have a free upgrade to Windows 11 once the final version is released.
Back in 2015, Microsoft has announced a free upgrade to Windows 10 for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 users. According to Microsoft, this offer should have been valid for only one year, but in 2021 users are still able to perform a free upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
Microsoft can still change the keys and activation system with the final release of Windows 11, but judging from the past, the company will probably allow a free upgrade from older and even unsupported systems.
The pre-release build comes with many improvements and new features although many things remained unchanged from Windows 10.
