Microsoft expanding Copilot to Windows 10
Microsoft has introduced its new AI assistant “Copilot” to Windows 11 as part of the major 2023 Update. Contrary to earlier information that Microsoft’s focus was aimed exclusively at Windows 11 for new features, the latest reports reveal the company’s intention to extend Copilot to Windows 10 as well.
This clearly shows a shift in strategy, as Microsoft aims to cheer a large number of users who still have not transitioned to Windows 11. Despite Windows 11’s existence, over a billion devices still operate on Windows 10, beating the adoption rate of Windows 11. To ensure Copilot’s wider usage, Microsoft plans to make it available for Windows 10 users too. Additionally, Microsoft also wants to invite developers to create plugins for Copilot by having a larger potential user base.
The end of support for Windows 10 is set for October 14, 2025. However, according to various information from different sources, Microsoft is having internal discussions about a possible extension of that date, although still without a final decision.
