Windows 7

Microsoft Windows 7 Operating System discussions.

Just thought this may be of interest to folks going for a lighter install. I've not yet tried it with W7T/WTK but it does work a treat under normal install circumstances. Too many non-Latin Fonts & Languages in your Win7 system ? I personally use the "all.bat c" command, does a nice job.

  2. Download the updates list (x86 or x64) for your Win7 OS here > http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/139877-post-sp1-updates-for-windows-7-updated-11022014/ Then download the Windows Updates Downloader (WUD) > http://www.windowsupdatesdownloader.com/ProgramFiles.aspx Thanks to steven4554 for updating this for February's Updates all credit goes to him, this is posted here in case people are looking for the latest patches. All the Best.

I feel like I am getting confused as I'm not quiet sure what's the difference between all these methods. I know that some things can't be slip streamed but that means they can be integrated and/or SysPrep'd? Would I just be better off installing everything and SysPreping the rest? Is SysPrep even around anumore is AOIK the replacement? I would like to create a Windows 7 SP1 64 bit install ISO that I can use as a base install and to speed up fresh installs and have it be unattended. I know that I have to download all the updates but I'm not sure what's the difference between all the different acronyms that are floationg around. Can .NET 4.5, WMF 4.0, and IE 10 be in…

  7. I have this Windows 7 x64 S1 downloaded DVD: X17-59465.iso I have a folder with add-ons named "addons", it contains: DreamScene for Windows 7 x64.WA Reapers_Microsoft_HoldEm_6.0.6000.17034_x64_Windows7_AddOn.WA Window7Themes.WA Then I have another folder named "SFX" which contains many .exe files which are silnet installers and sfx executables. Another folder, "themes", it contains 3 themepacks. The last folder, named "updates", it contains a few hundreds of .cab files which are windows updates. My question is: Should I copy/move all these folders (addons,SFX, themes & updates) inside Windows 7 extracted DVD, the folder X17-59465.iso in order to be installed whit win…

Ok, so I'm new to slipstreaming. I wanted to slipstream as many updates as possible, as I really dislike spending hours installing them when I reinstall windows. I am using a software called Windows Hotfix Downloader to retrieve the updates. I have now downloaded everything in the updates list. Now while going through all of it I have IE9 cab and exe. Same for 10 and 11. Do I need to slipstream both the cab and the exe or only one? Do I need to slipstream ie9 and 10 or can I go straight to ie11? I am going to include all the updates from the General, Security and Hotfix section, what should I take from the Additional/Extras section besides IE... Note:I am doing…

  20. Windows 7's virtual 'XP mode' could mean support nightmares Microsoft released a new feature called Windows XP Mode for users of its business versions of Windows 7 that will include a fully licensed copy of Windows XP SP3 running in a virtual machine. Microsoft Corp.'s decision to give some Windows 7 users a tool to run Windows XP applications in a virtual machine may have been necessary to convince people to upgrade, but it could create support nightmares, analysts said today. Last week, Microsoft announced that it would offer an add-on called Windows XP Mode (XPM) to users of Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate and Enterprise when the new operating system ships. Profession…

  22. Top 10 reasons why you should upgrade to Windows 7. Source Neowin. With the Windows 7 Release Candidate already released to the public on 5 may 2009, there's been a lot of hype surrounding Windows 7, with generally positive reviews from the community. Windows 7 is everything Vista wasn't... and some of what it should of been. If you're using XP or Vista, there's no excuse not to upgrade to Windows 7. In no particular order, here are my top 10 reasons why: Virtual XP Mode: Many users and businesses have been reluctant to upgrade past Windows XP, and who can blame them? Microsoft had to keep extending support for Windows XP for this reason. Enter Virtual XP Mode, the proble…

HI. After 1 month working hard with wintNT6, wintoolkit, rt7lite and rt7booster, I finally managed to get a full working image of windows7. I say full working beacause now it passes the sfc /scannow commad with 100%. And that was not the case at the beginning, Even if the images were fine and working, They were not able to get 100%. Infact the scan file was corrupted too... This was a problem, if system files check crash and stops at 45 % at the first logon how if I corrupt file in a few weeks? I will need a recovery. What a shame for a fresh image to be born broken. There are 2 kinds of errors, majors ones that make sfc scannow crash before ending scan, and the minor …
