MiniTool Power Data Recovery Giveaway
MiniTool Power Data Recovery Software Personal Edition is an excellent and flexible recovery program that can help you restore data from a wide variety of devices, including USB flash drives, Blu-ray Discs, DVDs, CDs, memory cards and more, when that data have been lost in a variety of ways, including accidental deletions, viruses, and partition alteration, damage or formatting. This file recovery software can restore all types of Windows files and supports IDE, SATA, SCSI and USB connections. The simple user interface is very friendly even for beginners and includes wizards which can guide you every step of the way so no training is required to operate the software. What's new in the latest version is the ability to handle drives with 4096 byte sectors. Please Note: No matter which tool you use to try to recover deleted or damaged data, the more you have continued to use the media the data is on after the data was lost, the more you risk overwriting the desired data to the point it can no longer be recovered by any tool at a reasonable cost. Power Data Recovery is an easy to use program. Once you start the program with its user-friendly interface, you then select one of five different recovery modules to use to start the recovery process: The 'Undelete Recovery' module can be used to recover any deleted files or folders even if they have been deleted from the recycle bin or otherwise "permanently deleted" from the computer. The 'Damaged Partition Recovery' module is the most powerful of the five recovery modules and recovers lost data from damaged partitions or recently formatted disks as long as the partition has not been deleted. The 'Lost Partition Recovery' modue specifically recovers data from partitions that are lost or have been accidentally deleted, such as what happens occasionally after reinstalling a Windows OS. The 'Digital Media Recovery' module is used to recover data from digital media (e.g memory sticks, flash drives and memory cards). There is a function specific to this module which can help recover digital data such as image, audio and video files. The 'CD/DVD Recovery' module can help you recover lost data from CDs, DVDs or Blu-ray discs that were formatted, damaged or erased. The module handles CD, DVD and Blu-ray data of many different types and formats. Each of the module's user interface is somewhat similar to the others to make it easy to operate. You select a local drive or device to start looking for information. Once the results are displayed, you can easily browse for files using the Explorer-based layout with familiar Explorer-type options. You can select or deselect any of the files from the current folder, toggle between the list and thumbnail viewing mode, or you can use a search function and configure an advanced search filter (by file name/extension, size, date). You can export the file list to a text document, view an icon and color legend, and preview the files (text, hex, image). MiniTool provides technical support option by email or phone. They also post a list of support topics online. Power Data Recovery is also available in a free version which does not allow you to "Load Previous Recovery Result". This feature allows you to choose to continue from the point where it was stopped during a previous recovery effort. The other main disadvantage to the free version is that you are limited to recovering 1 GB of data. The Personal Edition allows an unlimited amount of data recovery. MiniTool offers a bootable creation CD; however, it is an additional purchase. Review credit goes to our staff member bphlpt! Giveaway info: We are giving away 4 licenses for this great tool. All you have to do is to reply below and you will have the chance to win this software.

Windows 7 mainstream support ends, but don’t panic
Already ?? Welcome, Windows 7 users, to the day you’ve been dreading: the end of mainstream support. Starting Tuesday, Microsoft will stop pushing out new features, end free support and halt any update not related to security for its six-year-old operating system. That’s the bad news. The good news: The 56% of desktop users still running Windows 7 can expect Microsoft’s “extended support” until 2020. Microsoft’s slow and steady effort to stamp out Windows 7 in favor of Windows 8.1 is not new. The company ended consumer retail sales last November (no more Windows 7 boxes in stores), though it will continue to let computer manufacturers sell systems with Windows 7 pre-installed. In fact, the company promises to give at least a year’s notice before ending that program. But eventually, the software giant will have to end that, too. Windows 8.1, the radically redesigned operating systems is at a paltry 9% market rate, according to Net Market Share. That is more than than Apple's Mac desktop operating system (roughly 5%), it’s well below the 14-year-old Windows XP, which, incredibly, still holds 18% of the desktop market share. Windows 8.1 has not been the success Microsoft hoped for, largely because Microsoft tried to force-feed the public a Start Menu-free interface (to be fair, the Windows Design – née “Metro” — screen was essentially an exploded version of the Start Menu). Microsoft has more or less admitted it made a mistake in killing the traditional Start menu; it reintroduces it with Windows 10, which is now in beta previews. When the OS ships, likely sometime later this year, it may help Microsoft finally turn the tide on XP and Windows 7. Free vs Pro
Hmm.... I'll have to drop a few words here... A lot of work and sleepless nights were put in this site. Members who were with us from the beginning know how much frustration we got with our hosting issues. During our journey we have changed several hosting companies and numerous server configurations that include shared hosting, VPS servers, hybrid and semi-dedi servers at JaguarPC. We had issues everywhere until we moved to a semi-dedicated (dedicated) Hetzner DataCenter in Germany. During this migrations we had a lot of downtimes, frustrations, communication with hosting companies, DDOS issues, etc... Site expenses? Oh yes. Please check for some semi-dedi server prices with similar hardware to ours, daily backups and full server support. Our server has 24GB of RAM, RAID configuration, daily backups and full tech support. Just to see what I am talking about, here are some of the prices for the hybrid servers that were not sufficient for our needs: http://www.jaguarpc.com/dedicated-servers/hybrid-server/ Also, you can try to configure a server here and see the pricing http://www.hetzner.de/hosting/produktmatrix/managed-server-produktmatrix/ Then, please check prices for Invision Board forum and Downloads module that we're using here: http://www.invisionpower.com/buy Have in mind that a lot of users are using adblockers these days and you really can't cover site expenses just from ads if you really don't have a huge and profitable site. Therefore people are helping with donations and we are thankful for that. Don't get me wrong kirk, but I just wanted to let you know that running a web site is not as cheap as you think

The only setting that I see is to deny user edit after the defined time passes.

Spoiler Spacing, maybe remove the empty lines?
bphlpt couldn't say it better as he helped me much with reporting issues of this forum so he is more than familiar with the board software and IPB suppor IPB will be releasing a new major release soon that will require MySQL and PHP versions upgrade on our server. This new version will bring numerous updates and features and I suggest that we should wait for the upgrade and then report any issues or broken features that we might encounter during the usage. As for the search, we are using integrated forum search engine. Thanks for your report. NIM

Downloads available for non-forum-user?
Yes, the problem is traffice as we are paying for this server. If we'd have an open download, it could create a huge traffic and also slow down the whole forum. Also, Lego is offering his software for free, so the least visitors can do is to register for free.
