Windows 7 SP1 "Refresh" ISO's on Technet/MSDN
newsposter replied to ricktendo's topic in Microsoft Windows 7
Must be kind of serious if that computer naming bug is prompting a rebuild/rerelease of the integrated SP1 ISOs........ -
I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Nuhi may have had some influence on the current incarnation of WAIK & imagex; MSFT hired him and moved him to Seattle what, two years ago now?

Considering that the release might well happen in 72 hours or so why take a chance on an unverifiable release?

Wndows 7 Sp1 RC Released Officially
newsposter replied to Jatin Beniwal's topic in Microsoft Windows 7
Nooooo, msft has a freely available spreadsheet that lists each of the fixes and lets you know if they are available as a separate, tested download or if they are request-only hotfixes. Most service packs are this way. -

2/3 of the 600+ fixes are available no other way as they are request-only hotfixes. -

Guys, here is a direct link to the MSFT update catalog with a query setup for XP updates. It pretty much only works with MSIE and will require the installation of an ActiveX control. Might be of use. http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=windows+xp+update

[Video] Windows 7 AIK/OPK deployment 101 (Updated)
newsposter replied to ricktendo's topic in Microsoft Windows 7
Now that an SP1 installer is on the horizon, I've decided to jump into waik and mdt for win7. The initial plan is to use RT7Lite as a training ground for waik before I try to fly solo there. And as far as nlite-style 'addons' go, all I need worry about is finding silent installers for my fave apps, yes? No need to create otherwise custom packages, etc, etc. Hints and warnings of dead ends (you are walking in a dark twisty passage) appreciated.... -
Does anyone know the definitive version #s for the win7/server2008 versions of waik and mdt? thanks

how to change "Starting Windows" on boot?
newsposter replied to crabdance's topic in Microsoft Windows 7
Harmless in **your** mind. Msft has the big picture to worry about and are unlikely to issue you a free pass for what you want to do. -
how to change "Starting Windows" on boot?
newsposter replied to crabdance's topic in Microsoft Windows 7
Microsoft has said that they consider the boot screen and splashes part of the OS integrity check for both Win7 and Server 2008 R2. To that end, msft will work diligently to prevent user changes to those startup sequences. -

[Addon] .NET 4.0 framework TRUE addon
newsposter replied to nonno fabio's topic in WPI, nLite and RVM Addons
Nlite, although functional, is a dead app with no development or support. While devs of addon packs currently take care to keep compatibility with nlite, it is not unreasonable to assume that at some point in the near future, pack developers may choose to concentrate on RVMI with any nlite compatibility occurring as a happy accident. Additionally, any future msft patches for XP and by extension, any post SPxx service packs, will require SP3. This is because all versions of XP at SP2 and older are considered obsolete, out of support, and dead as of 01 July 2010. -

XPSP3_QFE_UpdatePack for Windows XP Post-SP3 20160510
newsposter replied to user_hidden's topic in WPI, nLite and RVM Addons
The fault is not the update, the fault is with certain user machine infected with a hard to detect/remove rootkit. The update functions perfectly on uninfected machines. -
[Addon] Kels Runtimes 7.8.4
newsposter replied to Kelsenellenelvian's topic in WPI, nLite and RVM Addons
Brunetu, make that "many OBSOLETE runtimes are already included". The point of the pack is to make a more complete runtime installation AND to create a more UP TO DATE installation. -

The updated version does appear to be working, which is the 'definitive' version now or are there two (vlk-supporting and non-vlk) or ??? -
