  2. Since we all know that Windows Vista has been released but its too costly to purchase. The most interesting thing in Vista is its look, new icons, cursors, theme, sounds, login screen, boot screen, etc. So I'm posting this tutorial to make our existing Windows XP to look-a-like Windows Vista. I was looking for a tool for making bootscreen background, trying to add my background in bootscreen (NTOSKRNL.exe), and finally with a help of my friend @wolfcall (who is also a member here) we found how to make original background like in MS NTOSKRNL.exe file (BMP 1 and BMP 4 as most important for Windows XP Professional). Unlike some people I know from forums, I want to share my effort with YOU. I was trying to edit that background with 16 colours 4 bit palette in Photoshop, but everytime failed. I tried with Windows "Paint" and I succeed but I needed to make painting (dot by dot) manually and at the end I had working background but visible in ResHack or PE Explorer or…

To create a useful link desktop link to shutdown or restart your PC, follow these directions: Right click on an empty area of your desktop, then select 'new' and 'shortcut' to open the new shortcut wizard. When prompted for the location of the shortcut, enter 'SHUTDOWN -s -t 01' to shutdown the system or 'SHUTDOWN -r -t 01' to restart the system. Name the shortcut and give it an appropriate icon from the '%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll' location. You now have a quick shortcut to shutdown or restart your system! Perfect for getting out of the office right at 5:00PM on the dot! ... OR at any time you like

These toys add fun and functionality to the Windows experience. We've taken great care to ensure that PowerToys operate as they should. But please note that these programs are not part of Windows and are not supported by Microsoft. For this reason, Microsoft Technical Support is unable to answer questions about PowerToys The PowerToys are installed into the directory you specify during setup. Typically this is the system32 directory. To uninstall the PowerToys, Open the control Panel. Launch the Add/Remove Programs control …

I need some help with figuring out the file paths of some of the windows xp resource locations. What I was trying to do when I realized I have this issue was to add a shortcut to control panel/display options via a new rocketdock icon. I can right click/properties(usually where i can find the path of a file) on the display icon in the control panel and I get the word"control panel" as a location. So then I looked at another icon on the rocket dock to see what was listed as the path for "control panel", and what I found was,"::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\::{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}" :icon_question: This leaves me to assume that the display icon i…
