Legolash2o got a reaction from soulburnerms in v1.4.0 Sneak Peek
I'm requesting feedback on the new Tools Manager and some other tools. When i first started W7T it was mainly for experienced users however I've noticed a lot more beginners so in v103 i have hopefully made it more easier for those types of users. I'm also going to update some error boxes to the new one i programmed, which has a more details button and there is a screenshot at the bottom.
You will notice some things look a lot more different. I've also done some minor UI changes to some other tools which are not mentioned here which are:
All tools windows can be resized
Majority of tools open in 750x400 creating more consistency
Some tools had panels like in Addon Maker where you add a file and a little screen pops up, these will all be centered when opened.
    Updated some tooltips.

I'm just trying to make things more consistent and neat looking. However they're things i still need to finish of:
Replace old error messages boxes with my new one.
More tool tips to help beginners
    Memory optimizations

I'm not adding any potentially buggy code because we are near the final, i'm just doing the things i should have finished. Once the final is released (prob v110) then i will update all the guides and include the missing ones.
Note: If you are wondering why the window titles are centered it is because i'm using Windows 8 Beta.

As you can see i have got the tools which i think will be useful for beginners at the very top, this will hopefully make the page look less busy and confusing.
    Beginners

I decided to group the most important tools and probably most used at the very top so beginners can hopefully see which tools they need. Most users just want to integrate things so i've made it the first button so it's easy to find.
    Recommended

I prefer users to have the latest Windows 7 SP1 disk and it's also recommended for users to have all the SoLoR updates integrated.
    Other Popular Tools

These tools are for the more advanced/experienced users.
    Tools
As you can see i've grouped the converters together, the tools which work using the currently installed OS together, the tools which work with wim images and then just misc stuff.
    Downloads
Hopefully it looks easier to find the stuff you want.
    About
I got rid of the about button/form and just added a tab with this information, nothing special.
    Addon Maker
I've added a lot more features in v103, you can now load previous .WA files, edit and then save it. There is also some tooltips on the list of variables showing which folder they will be i.e. C:\Windows\System32.
I've also added a 'New' button so you can clear all the lists and start a new addon without closing the tool and re-opening it.
    Capture Image
As you can see i've added some pictures, but i've also added some labels like the TIP ones. Looks quite nice on Windows 8.
    ISO Maker
Again more images and a view more labels like 'Folder to capture' and 'Select where to save ISO'. ISO Maker now also supports UEFI, it allows you to choose if you want to use BIOS, UEFI, Both and Custom.
    SWM Merger
Just more images and an extra label.
    WIM Splitter
    Same as SWM
    Update Installer
The Update Installer now has an 'Installed' tab which lets you uninstall updates, useful for those who use SoLoR Updates and like to remove superseded
    Driver Installer
As requested, this tool lets you install drivers onto the live system, you can also remove them too.
    Error Messages
Previous if there was an error message i had to limit the amount of information displayed so the user hopefully doesn't get confused. I will slowly be replacing the old error messages with my new one so those technical people have just click 'More Detail' and it will hopefully be able to help them and me if they post it on the forum.
The new error messages has a short description and a longer but simple description underneath it. Again, this will help the less experienced users.

Yeah i've renamed it the topic to show v1.4.0
If you want to be an Alpha test then please send me a Personal Message. The things i hope to get from feedback are:
    GUI recommendations
How to make things easier for beginners
    Just suggestions in general
    Changes to Tooltips
Any error messages which use the old style.

Bugs should go in a new topic and requests should go in the request forum. However if you want me to make a slight edit to anything in the 1st post then you can post it here, but anything big then then i will move it to the request forum for you
P.S. Just in case you missed my edit on the first post, i've added UEFI support in ISO Maker.

Also, they have the same MD5 from technet, so they include KB2534111 which is in Solor's pack.

Please do not message me to ask if i have an ISO in your language, i don't have any links for them. If i did then i would of added them in here. You can always integrate your language into these ISO's if you can't find your language.

The 'MSP Extractor (MS Office)' lets you convert your Microsoft Office updates into *.msp files which go into the 'Updates' folder of your Office installation disk so that they get installed automatically when you install Office.

Step 1: Add your Office updates
Click 'Add Office Updates' browse to them (exe) and wait for them to add into the list, you should then see information about the Office updates you have selected.
    Step 2: Click Start
Click 'Start' and select which folder you want the new *msp files to go.
    Step 3: Wait
Sit back and relax whilst W7T extracts the msp files, it will let you know when they are done.

Release Candidate has been released because it's getting nearer to v1.3.0.100 and i feel it's safe enough to release as RC.
1.3.0.93RC^FIX: *.theme files now integrates it's folder if detected

    self-explanatory.
1.3.0.93RC^FIX: W7T will now detect SWM files

Some naughty people have been renaming their .swm files into .wim files to try and edit this, W7T now detects this. tut tut
1.3.0.93RC^WIM Manager tooltips will now show wim location

If you put your mouse over the 'Image Name' it will show the wim location.
1.3.0.93RC^SWM Merge Tool has been added to merge *.swm files

Because i've banned use of SWM files i decided to make a tool which let's you merge them back into a .wim
P.S. The download link contains more info about the program itself.

Sorry that's not possible, both of the inf files (which W7T reads) are exactly the same so there is no way to separate the two. However i've just added a compromise in v91.
In the driver folders make a blank text file called "x86.txt" in the x86 folder and "x64.txt" in the x64 folder. This will make W7T force them to display x86 or x64 depending on which text file it see's.
if x86.txt exists W7T will show as x86
if x64.txt exists W7T will show as x64
if Mix.txt exists W7T will show as Mix
if x86.txt and x64.txt exists W7T will show as Mix
This is already in v91 which isn't released yet.

Those seem to be silent installers, you can either just simply delete them from the DVD root (Apps folder) which is the quickest option, you can also use Registry Hive Mounter to go to HKLM\\WIM_Software\\W7T and delete the registry key.

v1.3.0.89B released fixing some pretty big problems.
    1.3.0.89B^FIX: Issue loading Wim_Default

I did not update all the code when W7T mounts the hive WIM_Default, so this gave the affect that some tweaks did not apply. W7T now loads the correct hive so most of the tweaks have now been fixed (hopefully).
    1.3.0.89B^FIX: Updates-bf.mum where not installed

There was an issue with tagging which caused updates to not install in LDR-QFE Mode and just install normally, this has now been fixed.
1.3.0.89B^Progress add for presets in All-In-One Tool

When you loaded a preset via AIO Tool, W7T gave no progress... Now W7T will show the percentage, which file its loaded and even the taskbar has the progress bar enabled which should help as i thought W7T had hanged when it was actually working but reporting no progress what-so-ever. Hopes this helps!
1.3.0.89B^You can now double click updates in All-In-One Tool to show support website

I thought i had implemented this ages ago, you can now double click on items in the Updates list (AIO Tool) and it will take you to the MSU website for more information about a particular update.
Thanks, at the moment since it's coming to the end of the v1.3.0.xx build cycle i will be only focusing on fixes. I aim to add every request, but i have big plans for 1.4.0 (when i start it) so some requests will have to wait, sorry

The 'USB Boot Prep' tool let's you prepare your USB stick so that you can install Windows Vista/7 from it, your computer does require support to boot from USB for the USB stick to work.
Caution: The 'Full (Format)' button will format everything on the USB stick. W7T will ask if you're sure though.

Yellow: Usually means it is RAW and has not been formatted, not bootable.
Green: This means the drive is already bootable.
Step 1: Plug in your USB stick
This tool won't work without a USB Stick so go ahead and insert one.
    Step 2: Select your stick
Hopefully W7T will detect your stick and list it, select the disk/partition you want to be bootable and click start.
Step 3: Select Quick or Full
Quick: This will just mark the partition as 'Active' and convert it to NTFS if needed.
Full: This will 'Clean' the USB stick remove all partitions and data.
W7T will work it's magic and let you know when it's done, once done you just need to copy and paste your installation files onto the USB stick.

    @Tarun,
I understand your point, and I'm also a big fan of Mark Russinovich. But this tool that Legolash2o provided, at the request of ar_seven_am, is not being marketed as a Memory Optimizer. (It's not being marketed at all. LOL)
    * It does not do the "allocating, then freeing, large amounts of virtual memory" trick. therefore it does not cause the performance degradation Mark explains could happen as a result.
    * It does not do anything to try to defragment memory, so it does not run afoul of this false claim.
    * It does not claim to regain memory lost to leaks.
    * It makes no claims for improved performance at all.
    * It is FREE.
It was not originally written as a separate app at all. It was originally written by Legolash2o to solve a problem within W7T where some memory was not being released appropriately within his own app that he wrote. So he wrote this to do that one thing, and that one thing only, to release the memory that he was done with and knew was supposed to be released so he could use it for something else during the app's execution. He didn't try to pitch this solution to anyone else. If all app makers were as conscientious about trying to clean up after themselves, then the memory manager's job would be much easier, don't you agree? Yes, you, and Mark, are correct that the memory manager should eventually release all memory that was not needed. But since Legolash2o KNEW he was done with that memory, as a responsible app maker, isn't it a good thing that he went ahead and released it?
Even without Legolash2o promoting this cleanup routine he added, ar_seven_am perceived a difference in the the app's performance. He then asked if Legolash2o could break the routine out into a stand alone app so that he could see if other apps might benefit as well, and Legolash2o graciously agreed and posted it here for anyone to try it if they wanted to. He has also committed to releasing the source if there are any further code changes. As N1K has stated, this app, like W7T, is and will remain a FREE app. You, and everyone else, are welcome to try the app, or not, as you see fit. If you don't perceive a difference, or just don't want it on your system for whatever reason, then uninstall it or don't install it in the first place.
Yes, ar_seven_am probably overreacted a little when you lumped this tool in with other 'garbageware RAM "optimizers"', but your statement was also a bit over the top, IMHO.
Now that everyone has expressed their opinion, let's all just leave it at that.
If anyone, would post their experiences after testing this tool, good or bad, then THAT would be useful information for everyone's benefit.
    Cheers and Regards

    Step 2: Select your stick
Hopefully W7T will detect your stick and list it, select the disk/partition you want to be bootable and click start.
Step 3: Select Quick or Full
Quick: This will just mark the partition as 'Active' and convert it to NTFS if needed.
Full: This will 'Clean' the USB stick remove all partitions and data.
W7T will work it's magic and let you know when it's done, once done you just need to copy and paste your installation files onto the USB stick.

Legolash2o got a reaction from dvgbox in WIM Splitter
WIM Splitter is the tool where you can split a large install.wim into smaller *.swm so you can fit your installation disk onto a CD.

    Step 1: Select the WIM
Click the first browse button and select the *.wim file you want to split.
    Step 2: Choose your 'Size'
Type in the maximum size you want each separate files to be.
Step 3: Select your 'Output' folder
Select the folder you want the new separate files to go.
    Step 4: Press start
Press start and wait for it to finish
    Option: Rebuild
Rebuild options literally rebuilds the image so that it becomes smaller which then in turn makes your ISO smaller. This is only needed if you have made modifications to an image.
