The complaint came through the spam feedback loop via Microsoft/Outlook.com. I've just noticed that he (or she) also complained about a few French language posts, not only the English ones - not to the moderators, not to me, but straight to Microsoft, accusing us of sending spam instead of just unsubscribing from the topic that he himself once actively subscribed to. When I'm thinking about it once more now, that kind of behaviour deserves at least a double facepalm.
The only sensible thing to do was removing the person from this topic. The issue should be solved now.
Thanks for your great work! I don't think we need to change anything about the thread.

    Hi,
I'm surprised that someone complained. And I don't think he/she is one of regular people writing here and helping me to improve the job (all of them can write in english). To my opinion, people complaining without helping should stay quiet.
Most of important posts are translated in French and English, so everybody can find the infos. Half of people reporting bugs or interesting things are not french, so no matters (at least to me) to answer in english. If you prefer you can move the post in International section (but in this case, french people won't be happy !). Create an english and a french topic is a little bit complicated since we'll miss some things. Or you can move this topic in International section specifying that people can write in english or french.

    Hi Jan,
sorry, but which sub-forum would you propose for the update-lists?
This matter exists since 2014 as @rhahgleuhargh continued the work of @mooms if I remember well and it was from the beginning in French and English.
Sometimes I got an admonishment, because I answered in Italian and English to an Italian User and appended the translation in English: I was told the admitted language is French, but English is permitted too, if the user does not speak French.

    Hi,
Purpose of these ULs is to provide the minimum updates required by WU once integrated and installed. If you checked WU this month, KB3197868 is asked and not security only Rollup Pack KB3197867. All KBs marqued as telemetry related updates in UL are asked by WU after KB3197867. The difference between Quality and Security Rollups is that Quality Rollup provides not only telemetry updates, but other improvements that could be usefull to most people.
I'm not sure if the telemetry components included in the Rollup are really active if you didn't install these KB (2952664, 3021917 ; 3080149 and 3068708 were included in convenience Rollup pack, but they are still asked by WU) and if you didn't join the Consumer Experience Improvement Program : abbodi1406 may be the most competent person able to answer this question.
I prefered to select Quality Rollup because it's more simple. Don't forget that in few months, all previous KBs will be integrated in Rollups (ie all common and "classic" ones), and Convenience Rollup Pack will be certainly updated to solve some bugs (especially concerning all prerequisite updates) : final purpose is to have the same integration method as Windows 10 : one big cumulative and eventually one service stack updates.
You can block telemetry services with external programs (mooms proposed this one that seems to work good, especially in spyware OS Windows 10), or scripts (check in Wincert MDL forum, especially abbodi1406 scripts in Windows 7 hotfix repository category).
Personly, I don't care about these telemetry updates. Even Linux distributions contain telemetry report, and our smartphones are more spied than our computers !

    @pennsylvaniaron
Yes it's due to the fact I putted " " in the name of the fisrt category, it causes a crash if you have checked "category as subfolder" option. Uncheck it or wait for the next UL release, I've corrected that.

dareckibmw reacted to bphlpt in Forum owners, please ban links to ad-sites
@Oshimaida, While I understand, respect, and agree with your belief that spammers should be banned, I'm afraid that I don't agree that Adfly qualifies as a spam site that justifies such punishment as you suggest.  Yes, it is an ad site, but, in my experience, it does not cause anything to be downloaded onto your machine, nor does it open any popup windows, nor does it cause any further ads to appear in your browsing experience, nor does it cause you to receive any unwanted emails, if you do not click on any of the ads presented.  Not only that, but it is very easy to avoid the ads completely if you have an ad blocker installed in your browser, as I personally believe that everyone should have for their safety and to make their browsing experience more pleasant.  Even if you choose not to have an ad blocker, you merely have to wait about 5 seconds and then click the "Skip Ad" button and you will be promptly redirected to the page you were trying to view.
I also understand your opinion that if someone wants to make a little bit of money that it is more up front to sell their product rather than use an ad site like Adfly, but not everyone agrees with that approach.  I don't know the true percentages, but while I know you are not alone, I would imagine that you are in the minority.
Unfortunately, ads are a fact of life in this materialistic world of ours.  From print ads, telemarketing mailers and calls, radio and TV ads (Wasn't cable TV originally marketed as a way to avoid at least some ads by paying for the service up front?), billboards, ads embedded in YouTube videos, ads plastered on web pages taking up more room than the content, ads included on web search pages, and even ads included in this, and many. many other forums.  So while I agree with your opinion that they are greedy [censored] (this forum being an exception, of course), I'm afraid we are stuck with ads.  For your web browsing sanity, I strongly suggest getting an ad blocker.
So, you can avoid "abusers" that use sites such as Adfly, you can tolerate the brief ad for 5 seconds if you wish to support the "abuser" (I believe that they receive some very small fraction of a cent per each ad viewed), or you can use an ad blocker and merely have to wait the 5 seconds with a blank screen (and I think the "abuser" receives nothing).  It is your choice.  It is a very small annoying inconvenience, but I don't think it is spam.
Others are encouraged to voice their opinion.
    Cheers and Regards

    Hi Thiersee,
Yes the size gain was the purpose of the v2.6
    The cons:
    - You need to use a 64 bits OS to build 64 bits versions (the installer is run in a special mode to make the admin install point).
    - It seems some unique infos are added in the admin install, because every installer have an unique MD5.

That's the confirmation: Oracle have made some changes to the installers that will make them incompatible with setupcomplete installs.
I also remember now this was already discussed in the ryanVM thread (you need to be logged to see the thread).

Oracle must have made some changes.

Please try this version, it's a test version I made some time ago, it create an admin install point.
The purpose was to reduce the size of the SFX, but maybe it will also allows install with setupcomplete.
You can also try to use wintoolkit runonce to see if it make a difference.

WU client (WU Agent) got updated only 2 times since the release of SP1
but this year and for the seek of Windows10, it's now had around 7 updates and counting

bottom line, any future WU client update should be treated as Windows10 related, without any investigation needed
because even if the update itself doesn't have any fix to the upgrade process, it already contain all the previous updates code which are designed for upgrading to Windows10

    Hi Lego,
Some recent updates for Windows 7 should be moved to "Silent install + SFX" section of Wintoolkit during integration :

    - KB3046269 : seems to integrate OK but in fact it doesn't (I think you've done the job regarding Thiersee's thread)
    - KB3035583 : it is a Windows 10 migration required update, it's not possible to integrate it offline.
    - KB3020369 : this KB superseedes KB2533552, and is integrable offline, but KB2533552 is still requested by WU after integration. the problem is that when KB3020369 is integrated before KB2533552, this one is no more integrable, and a part of SP1 pack is asked by WU after ISO installation. So this update has to be integrated in RunOce after KB2533552.

Please have a look here, most posts are written in english.
    Thanks for your great job,
    Regards.
