For all of you folks, like me, who perform clean installs relatively frequently, Microsoft apparently is on the warpath about rooting out frequent queries to their Product ID server now that Windows 8 is imminent. They'll deem your software pirated, with no evidence other than the fact that you frequently request Product ID validation frequently. I've had valid copies of Windows 7 and Office 2010 placed on the banned list and have had to ship them copies of the software (at my expense) and go through weeks of down time until they reach a verdict. I have this Windows 7 x64 S1 downloaded DVD: X17-59465.iso I have a folder with add-ons named "addons", it contains: DreamScene for Windows 7 x64.WA Reapers_Microsoft_HoldEm_6.0.6000.17034_x64_Windows7_AddOn.WA Window7Themes.WA Then I have another folder named "SFX" which contains many .exe files which are silnet installers and sfx executables. Another folder, "themes", it contains 3 themepacks. The last folder, named "updates", it contains a few hundreds of .cab files which are windows updates. Hi, I am trying to move the users folder (by default) away from the System partition... i would like to Install in on D:\ or to be asked where I want it to be installed... Using the unattended file didn't work - users file is still in C:\ I noticed that a similar option exists in the vLite tab - is it normal that it can be done from the Unattended and the vLite at the same time ? Hi. I have been trying to install windows 7 x64 in audit mode with an AutoUnattended.xml file but for some reason Windows is not detecting the .xml file on install. I have place the .xml file on the root of the dvd. I did try it in VMWare and the .xml file was detected but when Windows was installed i was asked for an Administrator user name and password. Let's say you have removed the \sources\ei.cfg file to unlock all editions but integrate updates/drivers/etc. into only Win7 Professional and Ultimate. If you boot from the .iso, you're presented with all Editions to install (Home Basic, Home Premium, Pro & Ultimate) even though you only modified Pro/Ultimate. Just thought this may be of interest to folks going for a lighter install. I've not yet tried it with W7T/WTK but it does work a treat under normal install circumstances. Too many non-Latin Fonts & Languages in your Win7 system ? I personally use the "all.bat c" command, does a nice job.

I don't know how I get into this, but I have trimmed my OS (Windows 7 Ultimate x86 and x64) and then tried to make a multiboot OS of full version and trimmed versions of Windows 7 Ultimate, but when I tried to install I see x64 against my x86 OS and x86 against x64 OS. See the screenshot: The highlighted one is actually x86 and the last on is actually x64 but you can see x64 against x86 OS and x86 against x64 OS. I guess it is in the wim itself as I have already tried to delete the wim and re-merge but same result. I presume that I need to edit some xml in the install.wim but I am not sure which xml and what to edit in that xml, please help me guys.

After having some problems with an unattended .xml file, I found out something interesting that I'm sure is really good-to-know. So, some speedy USB sticks have SSD controllers inside. Some of these flash drives (USB 2.0 and especially 3.0) are seen by windows and marketed as external SSDs, some not (ex: USB 3.0 drives that have SSD controllers). And for some reason (I don't know and I don't care why, another Microsoft snafu if you ask me) the Autounattend.xml file isn't working if you boot from one of these drives... maybe Autounattend file isn't the only thing that won't work.
