THIS WILL ENABLE QUICK LAUNCH CLASSIC LOOK AND FEEL ON WINDOWS 7 VERSIONS Never got tired of the new look in windows 7? Well i did. And found a way to make the taskbar look like good old XP days. I started this topic some time, now after i wanted to reformat again. I took some time to look into the code again and make some improvements to the tool. Just have played with win7 deployment, I noticed that "integrated" updates/hotfixes are actually "install pending" rather than "installed", so that they are to be installed "when the image is booted". So anybody knows how to get this done? I would rather like seeing they are "installed", just like the integration of sp1. Also is there a way to remove old packages(old files that have been superseded) to save space?

  6. Hello all, Small question here, if you don't mind. I am currently trying to install Windows 7 on a new SSD harddrive. When starting the installation from the DVD, booting on the DVD, I have many errors like I/O errors and files not found errors. But if I start the installation from my already installed Windows 7 system, then no problem. It seems that when starting the installation from Win7, the installer check for updates online, so it downloads the correct drivers or whatever patches are needing to complete the installation correctly. Is there any way to get those updates on a DVD so that I can do a fresh install booting from the DVD ? I tried to download the l…

  8. What exactly does it break when you remove internet explorer from an installation through the remove components part of wintools? It warns that functions might be damaged but which parts are really damaged? What is damaged that might not be re-installed when IE11 is installed? I removed IE from an installation of windows 7 x64 Home Premium. Now I found out that Family Tree Maker needs IE to be installed and uses an embedded version in it's newest version. So I installed IE11. It works flawlessly on the surface. Browses sites, etc, but the FTM 2014 handshakes with ancestry.com directly and has this embedded browser which is not handshaking to allow access to info…

  11. I have a new one for those of you who have more experience with the Windows 7 setup than I do. For the most part, Windows 7 gets setup. During the stage where "Windows if finalizing your settings", the install just stops and does nothing at that point. Everything is still operational, but it does not go past that screen. I am able to call up a command prompt and get the task manager running, and it appears that the setup is stuck on a command prompt that is not doing anything. It could be related to some of the addons I use, but no one else has reported problems with those addons at this time. If I killed that defunct command prompt, the setup continues on, but the …

  12. Hi, does anybody know of a way (in Windows 7) to lock/pin the desktop icons in place once you have arranged them? My desktop isn't exactly cluttered, I think, there are at any given moment some 45-50. For the sake of easy navigation I try to keep the number to a minimum. When I have moved the icons around so that they are grouped into categories (roughly) and have their fixed places, it's easy to find what I'm looking for, and one gets used to it, like the layout of ones apartment for example. The desktop 'feels like home' to put it simply, plus it looks good. But every once in a while upon boot they are moved to the left side of the screen, not sorted alphabeticall…

  14. I want to integrate last upadates into Windows 7 SP1-U ISO and I have two doubts: 1. Does KB3172605 (July 2016 update rollup) replace KB3156417 (May 2016 update rollup)? 2. Integrate KB3170455 (update for Windows Print Spooler)? Supposedly it stops non-admin users from installing a network-printer :/ What set of updates is the best to integrate (KB in exact order): KB3020369 kb3125574-v4 KB3168965 KB3172605 KB3020369 kb3125574-v4 KB3156417 KB3168965 KB3172605 KB3020369 kb3125574-v4 KB3156417 KB3168965 KB3170455 KB3172605 ? 15. Hi, I have been having, for a week or two, the weirdest problem ever. Let's say I try to follow a link in PCWorlds newsletter, I then get an error message saying: "Connection Failed. Firefox cannot connect to the server at Reviews and News on Tech Products, Software and Downloads - PC World. - The site may be temporarily down, try again etc. etc. The message comes up immediately, no trying with subsequent time-out, just bang - head against the wall. Same difference with Internet Explorer. The weird thing is that it's only PCWorld.com I cannot connect to, all other sites (this one, for instance) work fine. I just can't remember what I might have done to exclude myself from…

  23. Hi Experts, I got a problem with the new Socket1150, 8th Chipset Family; The USB ports (2.0 and 3.0), the USB Header and also ATX iO Shield ain't functional when Windows is started. Win7 was installed from a WDS Server: I tried to fix the problem with an adding of new Drivers in WDS 'Driver Group 1 Folder' I added and tested Drivers: Renesas µPD720200 & µPD720200A Newest Native Driver by Intel xHCI (8 Series/C220 Chipset Family) ... but none was functional. I have already thought about not taking the USB Drivers into the 'Driver Group 1 Folder' on WDS, but implementing in Win7 Image (*.wim). Has somebody already tried that out? Thanks ahead…

  24. Started by BYTE-ME,

In the good old days of Windows up to XP, you could delete the windows partition and reformat and be back in business with no adverse affect on your hard drive or the performance of your OS. But I've gone through more than a half dozen partition programs and disk wiping programs in an effort to cleanly upgrade from the evaluation version of Windows 7 to an OEM version, and each time, Windows 7 resists being fully erased from the drive. Microsoft seems to be implementing some boot encryption or or hardware bios routine that leaves traces of the OS even after Windows 7 files and partition are gone. Since I can't find much about this issue on the Net it may be that my partic…
