  1. @pennsylvaniaron, Since it seems to have been verified that the method of creating an updated source works, at least for others, and there is something in your method that is causing your problems, then it seems to me that, at least temporarily, it might be better to abandon your current method and use one that works, such as that by Thiersee, instead of continuing to try to figure out why your method doesn't work. Once you have followed his method exactly, step-by-step and using the exact same source (except for language), addons, and tools, and so, hopefully, achieving the same successful result, including passing SFC, then you will be in a better position to compare the successful method to the one you want to use and see what the differences are and how best to modify things to get the results you want. Also, by trying to duplicate Thiersee's method exactly, then he will be in a better position to help you if you continue to get different results. Thiersee, Pink_Freud, and I all have updated systems that pass SFC and none of us have any trace of KB3136000 showing up, so we can't figure out where you are getting it from, regardless of how often it is mentioned as being a problem by others on the internet. Just my opinion. Good luck! Cheers and Regards
  2. No. The convenience roll-up is not SP2, there is no SP2, and it is very extremely doubtful that there ever will be an official SP2 released by MS. Cheers and Regards
  3. I seem to remember that this was an asked for "feature" that was added to WTK to make it easier to install the OS on various machines. Each time the OS is installed it will also install whatever drivers are found in a particular "driver folder" that can be on a different drive or USB stick. I'm sure the info about this feature are around here somewhere, but I haven't looked very hard for it. This feature can be very, very handy, but can also catch you unaware, as it did you. Cheers and Regards
  4. I can and will, but I'm not sure if it's a solution you want to pursue. Unlike this thread and Windows Update Downloader, whose purpose, as I understand it, is to install the minimum number of updates to satisfy WU/MU, I chose to use WHDownloader, aka Windows Hotfix Downloader, which tries to provide all possible updates including "request only" hotfixes. My purpose in posting was merely to assure you that there is nothing wrong with Rick's NFW installer, nor is the convenience update required for a successful install that does not bug you about KB3136000, and also still passes SFC. Sorry for the slightly OT posts. Good luck with your efforts. Cheers and Regards
  5. I recently reinstalled my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 system a couple of weeks ago, and I updated it "live" the classic way using WHDownloader and abbodi1406's lists and scripts, without the "convenience" rollup, I chose to hide the updates for WAT and Windows 10, 7 in total, and the language packs. I installed NFW 4.6.1 "manually" using ricktendo's installer - dotNetFx461_Full_x86_x64intl_Slim_2016-05-18.exe, similarly to the way you did from the desktop. And I have never separately installed KB3136000, nor has it ever been asked for. My OS shows as completely up to date on MU/WU with no trace of KB3136000 in the list of installed updates. I have no idea what is different on your system regarding NFW, but it's not due to Rick's installer or doing the updates the classic way. But it is something on your system or the way you installed your updates. I doubt it, but in case it makes any difference, but like I said, I updated my installed system live. Sorry I can't help more. Cheers and Regards
  6. KB3145739 was installed on my system 10 days ago, when I last reinstalled my OS, and is still in place. Having it didn't help my initial scan and install today after patch Tuesday. Unless you're saying that I should have uninstalled it and reinstalled it before today's updates? Or maybe that I should be happy with my experiences today because they would have been even worse if I didn't have KB 3145739 installed? LOL Glad to see you around Liam! [OT] @Liam, if I could please ask a favor. At this point anyone that installs Windows 7 probably wants to keep Windows 7 and doesn't want to upgrade downgrade to Windows 10. So the next time you make your updated ISO could you please NOT include the following KB's: KB971033, KB2952664, KB3021917, KB3035583, KB3068708, KB3080149, and KB3123862. Assuming that an install of your ISO passes SFC and can still be updated by the user with those updates or any other updates that come up in the future, then I think that your ISO would appeal to the widest audience possible. Thanks for considering my request. [/OT] Cheers and Regards
  7. @pennsylvaniaron, The problems with WU/MU, especially with "older" OS such as Windows 7, have been going on for quite awhile and have been getting worse. My Windows 7 Ultimate x64 system was completely up to date with WU/MU on Monday, and would pass SFC with no errors. Running WU/MU today took well over an hour to "scan" before it came up with the list of available updates. Then it took well over another hour to install those same updates. In both cases it was just sitting there doing nothing most of the time. After restarting I double checked and it still passes SFC. I then let WU/MU rescan and this time it only took about 5 minutes to come back with info that there was a Security Essentials update and it took less than 5 min to install it, and less than 5 min for another rescan to confirm that WU/MU was now happy and completely up to date again. The situation of WU/MU taking an extremely long time for the initial scan and for the initial install at both the time of the initial Windows 7 OS install and then again after every patch Tuesday is now expected behavior for many people. Which updates that need to be installed first to "fix" this situation seem to vary and don't consistently work for everyone. After the first successful update session each month succeeding runs are better, but the first time is a real bear. If anyone can come up with a reliable solution that works for everyone it would really be appreciated. Cheers and Regards
  8. Please don't double, triple, quadruple, or quintuple post. Your other posts have been deleted. If anyone knows the answer, they will respond, eventually. And if you need to add more info to a post that you have already made, then please just edit your post if no one else has posted in the meantime. Cheers and Regards
  9. While the link that @dareckibmw provided lists a good number of essential application repacks for a complete Windows 7 install, some of which can also be found here at WinCert, for the up to date windows 7 update list, I think that dareckibmw meant to give you this link - http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?/topic/12103-20-avril-2016-update-list-gdr-pour-windows-7-sp1-x86x64-fr-en-de-es-it/ which is the updated link of what was referred to in response to the OP. Cheers and Regards
  10. Lego made a brief appearance about a week ago. Best we understand, he plans to be more available in about a month. That's all I know. Cheers and Regards
  11. Good question. We have to wait for Lego. We can only hope that he is just busy with school. Cheers and Regards
  12. Thanks, niT3_RiDeR_Pr0, but I'm a little confused. In your first paragraph, before "Let's begin", you mention Win10 several times. Did you mean to say Win7? Cheers and Regards
  13. Part of the problems with bookmarks not working might be due to improvements that have been made recently which now have "php" in all of the current page addresses. The improvements have drastically improved the overall speed of the site, but it has invalidated previously saved bookmarks. We hope you will be able to live with this small inconvenience. Cheers and Regards
  14. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication these many years, Rick, here at WinCert and at MSFN, RyanVM, and everywhere else we have all congregated. You have always given of yourself to help others, whether it was to provide the updated apps, or just offer advice. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you. You will definitely be missed. Cheers and Regards my friend, John

  16. BIG improvement, at least in my opinion. Thanks, and my eyes thank you, too. Cheers and Regards my friend
  17. Any chance you can make the left and right background in the current theme darker, similar to what is in the pic above? It's just too light and bland as it is now. It's bright enough to read by and it practically hurts my eyes. Just askin' Cheers and Regards
  18. @Oshimaida, While I understand, respect, and agree with your belief that spammers should be banned, I'm afraid that I don't agree that Adfly qualifies as a spam site that justifies such punishment as you suggest. Yes, it is an ad site, but, in my experience, it does not cause anything to be downloaded onto your machine, nor does it open any popup windows, nor does it cause any further ads to appear in your browsing experience, nor does it cause you to receive any unwanted emails, if you do not click on any of the ads presented. Not only that, but it is very easy to avoid the ads completely if you have an ad blocker installed in your browser, as I personally believe that everyone should have for their safety and to make their browsing experience more pleasant. Even if you choose not to have an ad blocker, you merely have to wait about 5 seconds and then click the "Skip Ad" button and you will be promptly redirected to the page you were trying to view. I also understand your opinion that if someone wants to make a little bit of money that it is more up front to sell their product rather than use an ad site like Adfly, but not everyone agrees with that approach. I don't know the true percentages, but while I know you are not alone, I would imagine that you are in the minority. Unfortunately, ads are a fact of life in this materialistic world of ours. From print ads, telemarketing mailers and calls, radio and TV ads (Wasn't cable TV originally marketed as a way to avoid at least some ads by paying for the service up front?), billboards, ads embedded in YouTube videos, ads plastered on web pages taking up more room than the content, ads included on web search pages, and even ads included in this, and many. many other forums. So while I agree with your opinion that they are greedy [censored] (this forum being an exception, of course), I'm afraid we are stuck with ads. For your web browsing sanity, I strongly suggest getting an ad blocker. So, you can avoid "abusers" that use sites such as Adfly, you can tolerate the brief ad for 5 seconds if you wish to support the "abuser" (I believe that they receive some very small fraction of a cent per each ad viewed), or you can use an ad blocker and merely have to wait the 5 seconds with a blank screen (and I think the "abuser" receives nothing). It is your choice. It is a very small annoying inconvenience, but I don't think it is spam. Others are encouraged to voice their opinion. Cheers and Regards
  19. Welcome to WinCert! Cheers and Regards
  20. I don't think that the MS developers gave as much thought to improving every aspect of the user's Windows experience as the users thought/wished they did. This is just one more example of a feature that worked perfectly well in previous versions of Windows that has been removed in the later versions for no particular reason that I am aware of. And yet the installed size of the OS continues to grow exponentially. [OT rant] I'm holding on to my Windows 7 installation until they pry it from my cold dead hands, and then I'll probably either switch to Linux or go back to XP. There are projects going on such as SP4 and KernelEx to extend the life and capabilities of XP which might keep it relevant and under the user's complete control. Seriously though, with a lot of attention and care I think that Windows 7 will continue to be compatible and viable for quite some time. [/OT rant] Cheers and Regards
  21. Well, you're right. I guess you use these? About the Product TOUGH AND GENTLE: Pre-Moistened lint wipes that provide thorough and gentle cleaning for all kinds of dirt by removing bacteria, germs, fingerprints, dust, oil, and smudges. SAFE AND EFFECTIVE: Does not contain artificial fragrances to safely prevent streaks and bacteria from spreading on eye. STREAK AND SCRATCH-FREE: Non-abrasive, antistatic micro-fine tissue cleaning wipes that leave zero scratches, streaks or marks on eyeglass lenses. Alcohol and ammonia free formula POCKET SIZE, small resealable packages with individually wrapped wipes so you can have them handy everywhere Whereas I've been using these: SAFE AND EFFECTIVE: Pre-Moistened lint wipes that provide thorough cleaning from all kinds of dirt gently by removing bacteria, germs, fingerprints, dust, oil, and smudges. CONVENIENCE: Disposable pre-moistened wipes make it quick and easy to safely clean optics lenses. LENS CLEANER: Does not contain artificial fragrances to safely prevent streaks and bacteria from spreading on eyeglasses and sunglasses. STREAK AND SCRATCH-FREE: Non-abrasive, antistatic micro-fine tissue cleaning wipes that leave zero scratches, streaks or marks on eyeglass lenses. OPTICS WIPES: Wipes designed to clean all lenses like sunglasses and eyeglasses. Which I'm not sure, but might contain a small amount of alcohol, at least they smell as though they might. But I've never had any issues using them occasionally. Ammonia though can de-laminate mirrors so that is a definite no-no. Anyway, after doing some reading, the general consensus is to just use a water dampened cloth with a very small amount of gentle soap for extreme situations, so your choice of wipes is better than mine. Cheers and Regards
  22. I believe that the safest way to apply any spray cleaner is to spray it on a cloth and not spray it directly on the screen. Any of them are probably safe that way but I wouldn't use one that contains ammonia. I typically also use the individually wrapped Zeiss alcohol wipes intended for eyeglasses. Cheers and Regards
  23. http://www.wincert.net/forum/index.php?/topic/13152-wintoolkit-development/?p=116887 Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Cheers, and Regards
  24. To my knowledge, Win Toolkit, nor any other tool, can remove an update that is already integrated. If you want to do all editions, you need to master the "Update target editions" as mooms suggested. ricktendo was the one to discover the method and share it here, and Lego has confirmed that it works. We're all hoping that he will automate the process in Win Toolkit soon. Cheers and Regards
