This pack works great until I run windows updates, then most of the icons go back to default xp.

Is there anyway to just repatch something since I know the .res files are already there. If so how would I go about doing that?

2 Bubbabad and those who suffer after windows update

1. uncompress V'ISO to %systemdrive%\patch folder

2. uncompress patch.1.1.rar to %systemdrive%\patch folder

3. fireup "1copy.cmd"

it will copy files, patch them and replace the ones on the system.

after it's finished, the script will ! reboot the system !

p.s i know it's not perfect, but hey, U can allways polish and improve it.

i've tested on my live system and it worked.

p.s.s it doesn't contain all the files, but most of them.

oh, and U may call it alpha or whatever U pleased :0)

*** Updated *** patch.1.1.rar 9.45 KB

Thanks Amnesia, appreciate the help.

I saw ryanvm just release RVMUpdatePack2.2.1b4.7z so I used that and the problem didn't occur again. thanks for your patch.rar......good to have a manual way to integrate these on a running os.

thanks again,

Bubba

Great !!!

This is what I have been looking for, this will patch all the files again right.

Can you make a single file patcher, I find sometimes after Windows Update 1 file say for example shell32.dll has been change, it is not really necessary to patch all files ?

Thanks alot

I don't know where i've seen it, so I apologize in advance, but I've seen someone patch XP so that when files are being copied or moved, it uses the Vista animation, but also, you could click the little arrow at the bottom of the window and it shows the current file that is being moved/copied.

Additionally, and this may not be the appropriate topic for this, but how about creating a right-click context menu similar to Copy To/Move To except that it uses xcopy and the /v and /c switches to not only verify the operation, but to continue moving even if some error occurs? Just a thought.

I used version 7.2 of the pack on Windows XP SP3 build 3264; I think it's great!

I have a question about the logonUI though; how did you force the logonUI to use the Calibri font (or whatever font you used)? I love the font that is chosen, I just reverted to the XPize Darkside Logon and noticed that text had been removed, but the font stayed the same, which was nice.

Well one of the last releases of V'ISO has that more Vista like file transfer window, though the button to view the files does not work, also an older version has a different window which shows the file name all the time.

Have you heard of the program TeraCopy, it may solve your file transferring issues...

Rick ,I found Movie Maker will lost some items and features if the file moviemk.exe be patched vistalike icons by using VISO v7.3 ,it will show you 'The file for video transitions and effects is missing' when run MovieMaker ,If replace it with oringinal moviemk.exe then Movie Maker will work normal without any problem, I'm trying to find a solution to resolve it,Its very strange that the probelm will come back as soon as moviemk.exe take any change, btw,I make these over XP En with sp3 rc2 b3300 resource.

Good job Rick. Does this include your run box patcher?

Can someone please point me to this run box patcher app.... I've done searches for it but I can't seem to locate it. :sweatingbullets:

Does it patch the run box to that of vista's?

Thanks for the wonderful work done with V'ISIO.

Confirmed, it happens to me too... Its not VISO btw its just how moviemk.exe reacts when patched

Is anyone working on extracting the resources from the pack posted here?

http://fishy-fish.deviantart.com/gallery/

Since they've been extracted from Vista itself, they should be even better than what's already in V'ISO...right?

Just another way to improve an already awesome utility!

Thanks again Rick!

*Edit

Nevermind, V'Iso already implements all of these icons.

V'Iso is perfecto!

Greetings.

I would like to ask for help.

Is there any special trick that I have to use in order to change the bitmaps with a fucsia background, like the ones on "appwiz.cpl" (101 to 107)?

I tried to put a new graphic, set the background color to the very same fucsia tone and when I do the tests, I find always edges around the graphic with that same background color.

Thank you in advance for the responses you can give.
