Help! anybody out there had this problem: No progress bar at Windows update. (win XP home, SP2, IE 7) No green progress bar scrolls when attempting to check for updates at Windows Update. However the space for the progress bar is present. After a 60 to 90 second wait a window opens advising there are no priority updates available for my computer. So I am assuming the update is working but without the progress bar indicating it is searching. I've tried multiple suggestions, Dial-A-Fix, others found on the internet, and from Microsoft Technical help. All to no avail. Sure would like to figure this one out. Also have a problem trying to get my desktop icons to be transparent…

Yes my mozilla eats over 900mb of my memory resources? I have no clue what is causing that. I use 2.0.0.13 version. I'm suspecting on some application/page that might be eating my memory while opening them. I fix my problem by restarting FF again. Did anyone have similar problems with it?

  6. Hello, Can anyone give me some instructions regarding setup of windows xp logon proceedings so that the log-in password in no longer bypassable in any way. I need a way to lock it up so tight that if I were to forget the password, I would probably die of old age before it could be cracked. I need to get rid of this method going in and deleteing the user file to get past the log on . I need to make it so that no one can bypass my logon password encrption with a sort of tool like what one might find on Hiram's boot cd. I was thinking that I could move some of the windows components into a truecrypt volume, where windows wouldn't work very well/if at all, until the trucryp…

  7. Hello, I am looking for some advice regarding software that would help me protect information I am going to make available on a work group/network for others to access, but not to be able to copy to a storage medium. To be more clear, I am going to set up a small network of 3-4 computers upon which I will make available information which I would like to display to others and perhaps allow for pages of the info to be printed, but I need to make sure that the information can only be viewed, or printed by page, without any chance of it being copied in bulk. I have been thinking of using windows XP pro on all of the machines and then serving the data from my workstation wit…

from a 36gb SCSI drive.. I thought to install XP into a 25gb partition and keep the C:\Program Files folder for what needs to go there. then create another 10gb part as D:\Program Files for major apps. i've searched a bit and found different opinions. besides Defrag efficiency, is there any good reason to have these separate O/S partitions in a new build? the Paging file will set itself as necessary and i've read the Documents and Settings should also stay in place.

Windows XP Pro 32 / Windows 7 Problem: new app/window (IE8 or new IE8 window, MSWord, Escel...) take over the desktop, again and again, while you're trying to continue work with the original app. Examples: Working in one app, open a new app; start a new process; or request an IE8 website (via keyboard shortcut, Task bar, or a clicking a hyperlink in the app you're using) Goal: be able to Keep working uninterrupted using one app while any other launches/opens and gets itself sorted out in the background. (Variation) It would be nice to make the launch location optional, e.g. via right-click menu option?. Primary Solution: A registry setting? All responses appreciated…

I have request for you to make me an two addons to my two operating systems: Windows 2000 Professional SP4 and XP Media Center Edition SP2 addons for high definition audio architecture KB888111. nLite integrates this hotfixes normally but removes to SVCPACK folder so they are installed in T-13 but I want TRUE addons. Who would be so helpful and make this TRUE addons? I know, it's possible to make TRUE addons from this hotfixes but I'm not familian with this subject. I give you link for this hotfixes - both are compressed by WinRAR. http://speedy.sh/XjTcJ/Desktop.rar if you make it, please upload on for example…

NoRCoTI (No Right-Click on Tray Icon) disables to right-click on a specific tray icon. Usage: ------ Place a 16x16 icon of the program in the current working directory. Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+T if you want to exit NoRCoTI. Working: -------- NoRCoTI does not have any user interface. If it cannot find the icon in its path, then it'll present a file open dialog box and will copy the icon to the working directory. To check if NoRCoTI is working properly, move your mouse over the tray icon of the program you specified. The scroll-lock light on the keyboard should turn on. It will turn off as soon as the mouse is moved away from the tray icon. Tips for extracting the 16x16 i…

Well, I just acquired a laptop for school. It's relatively old, but, it is designed for Windows XP and it has the OEM Sticker on the bottom. But since this was a local dumpster discount, theres no discs or anything. Hell, it didn't have ram, hdd, or batter + battery door. It's a Toshiba Satellite 1400. I got it all working, and I love the little computer. Anyway, my question is, is there anyway I can use the OEM cd key on the bottom for the install on this computer? The code obviously doesn't work on my reatial copy of XP Home Edition. So I was wondering if anyone here knew how to use the code. If so, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

These are both tools to add network support to Windows PE, but I wonder if they can be used with an installed Windows XP SP3. The reason I ask is, I want to boot Windows XP SP3 but change some settings before booting is completed, such as, the Computer Name, the NIC IP settings and things like that. With Windows PE there are scripts available, but I have no idea when to load this on a normal installation. I figured out already that a User Profile script is simply running too late during boot process and will not allow changes such as Computer Name (you will need another reboot for that). I know I can use those network tools inside Windows XP too, but how do I use them to …

  21. Good afternoon, has taken into head as it is possible to execute carrying over of applications from one operating system in another. Since at a forum saw similar appendices, hope that will turn out to find the help in this point in question. Well or at least references, to the literature.

  25. I am trying to integrate OnePiece_Windows_XP_Post-SP3_UpdatePack_v3.8.0_ENU.7z into a stock install of XP Pro SP3. The integration goes fine, but after I install windows, when trying to do Windows updates online, I have one update that will not install properly (KB982524). It just keeps installing it over and over. Is anyone else having similar issues? This appears to be a problem with the dotnet installs (or a problem with me). I am using: RVM v1.6.1 beta2.1 OnePiece_Windows_XP_Post-SP3_UpdatePack_v3.8.0_ENU Windows XP Pro SP3 Thanks Brad
