Win Toolkit

Win Toolkit Discussions - Customize your Windows Images

  1. Hello, I wanted to test the new WinToolKit 1.4.0 (currently v.15), for Windows 7 x64 sp1. I have selected : - updates : the last SoloR update pack - drivers : some from driverpacks.net (massstorage, chipset, lan, wlan) - tweaks I'm facing 2 problems at the moment : after more than 4h30 of updates/drivers integration (more than 300 upd. and 500 drv.), in Virtualbox's last version the "Setup Background" is not changed, and later a more severe problem, i always have a BSOD after the install. For the tweak not working, I'm wondering if it could be caused by the size of the BMP or its resolution ? (currently 6.5 Mb for 1920x1200 BMP, converted by WinToolkit automatically). For…

  4. Hi Lego, I'm sure you have heard that McRip only lets your Toolkit and one other program access his server from now on, which is a damn shame, but understandable from his perspective. My question is that now this change has happened, will you be updating the Toolkit to access more of his server, than just the main folder, and the additions folder? It would also be good to be able to access the changelog.txt as well now. EDIT... OK, having never used this feature of the Toolkit before, I noticed that the rest of the folders are listed under Additionals (optional). Is this every folder that was available on the server? I just seem to remember from ages ago users …

  6. I just finished downloading the Win 7 Ultimate x86 iso, I extracted it in a folder and began working on it with the first step of AIO integrator (which is the WIM manager). Now it shows me a list of images, each is one of the various Win flavours. (STARTER, HOMEBASIC, HOMEPREMIUM, PRO, ULTIMATE), and each has a "stated" size of a round 8 GB (which sounds a bit weird since everything combined in that folder is less than 3 Gb). Let's say I want to make a ISO that can install each one of these flavors. I click on "remove ei.cfg", and that allows me to do that. Good. Now let's say I want to make an ISO that also contains addons, patches and drivers I downloaded. I remove ei.c…

  9. Gets confusing as to which does what and what to use. Win Toolkit > Main > Basic > AIO Integrator > Advanced > Component Removal ---Removes components by installing and then uninstalling. ---Does not reduce size of WIM / ISO. Win Toolkit > Main > Basic > AIO Integrator > Advanced > vLite ---Removes components by removing them from WIM. ---Does reduce size of WIM / ISO. Win Toolkit > Main > Advanced > Component Removal ---Removes components by removing them from WIM. ---Does reduce size of WIM / ISO. The guides might be outdated. Please correct / add to for clarification. Thanks

Firstly, thank you Legolash2o for this application. I want to remove components like (for example) Windows Media Player but I still want Windows Update to automatically install hotfixes. , When a update for Windows Media Player comes along, will WMP get re-installed? If yes, then I can remove Windows Update too. But, (sorry this is outside the scope of Win Toolkit) is there another updater that automatically updates hotfixes but checks if you have the file in your system first? ie- installed Windows 7 system > update available > file(s) to be update are not in system folder > no update performed I used to integrate hotfixes into the install cd every 6 …

  11. Hi, I wanted to remove some components using the all in one tool in order to make the Windows installed size smaller, but I think it's even bigger than before (9gigabytes on a freshly formatted partition). This is what I did: 1- Mount image. 2- Remove all editions but the one I wanted (Professional) 3- Rebuild. 4- Open the all in one tool and remove the following components: #Components AppFrabic Australia Local Pack BitLocker Drive Encryption Broadcom Drivers Canada Local Pack Common Modem Drivers DVD Maker Great Britain Local Pack Hyper-V VMBUS Driver IIS Addons 1 IIS Addons 2 Inbox Games Indexing Service Internet Games Internet Information Services Microsoft XPS Docu…

hello how to remove package Narrator and Windows Speech Recognition in the install.wim windows7

  14. Actually, it appears to be removing the packages only to parse them straight back. I can't make sense of these "Unknown" packages either; they don't appear to be anything like the lists of removed components being posted on MSDN or MDL forums, and don't correlate with the packages Technet lists for Win 8. I'm trying a few other methods to remove them but would this be a Component Remover bug or a problem with corruption in my system?

Is the Wintool tab: "Copy Modified Files to Your Image", only for replacing existing Windows files like Notepad.exe or calc.exe or can you add non-existing files as well. I ask because I see that radio check button and I tried adding custom cursors to the Windows\Cursors folder on Windows 8.1 and nothing happened. I also can't reliably copy to the cursor folder using WPI after an install. Any suggestions. (I'm using version 1.5.3.12 if it makes any difference.

  20. Hi, Is it possible to copy icons in a folder to "C: \Windows" folder with Win ToolKit? If yes, how can we do that?

  21. Started by ulysse,

Hi all, I'm new to W7T and I would like to create an unattended multi-edition ISO with added hotfixes, drivers; tweaks and some components removed. I'm wondering how and when to remove components using the standalone (not AIO as it offers less choices) component remover....before or after running the All-In-One Tool? Also, when using the standalone component remover I cannot choose multiple editions simultaneously. Does this mean that I have to remove the components on all 4 editions separately (mount HomeBasic, HomePremium, Pro and Ultimate one after the other and remove stuff over and over again)? Thanks for your help ;-) ulysse

  22. Hi all, I'm a newbie here with this cool looking customiser so please forgive me for my ignorant newbie question. Does it matter what order you have the Windows Updates? Additionally is there an easy way to select all, but then remove about 28 from the list? My list of updates for Windows 7 sits at about 585 so it would take a very long time to manually hunt down those 28 files. My list for Windows 7 is 585 long, so it would be nice if there is a way of avoiding scrolling up and down that list for a total of 10,000 manual checks to find the KBxxxxxxx that needs to be removed
