Win Toolkit Discussions - Customize your Windows Images

  1. I am updating an existing image to update with new versions of Silent Installer programs. One of the "always Install" (Notepad Replacer) programs is not run, despite the fact that it appears in the Integrated list at the end of the run and is in the WinToolkit_apps directory. When I run AIO, I check the "Delete Silent Installers" in options. Is this correct? Suggestions? 2. I'm trying to add some files via Advanced > Files tab for a Win7 64bit image. I don't know how to place files to make them accessible both by 32bit and 64bit processes. I know about file system redirector and "sysnative" alias, but that is intended to resolve access from calling application side. I'm wondering if the only solution is to copy files to both system32 AND system32/SysWOW64 so any 32/64 bit process can equally run all added executables ? UPDATE: I'll just shove 32bit stuff in system32 anyway because mostly 64bit cmd shell will access it anyway. Sigh...

  6. Hi, i'm from germany, so i'm not sure if this is the proper name for the service/feature. I use Windows 10 Pro x64 and are currently messing with install_wim_tweak (nice tool). So i was thinking about what i do not need and saw under Control Panel the "Phone and Modem" icon and it disturbs me , so my question is: Do someone know, what is the name of the WIM package for this functionality or is there a way to get rid of it in a clean way? I already removed a package called Microsoft-Windows-Mode-Drivers... and searched in the package list for phrases like "tapi, tele" and "modem" but nothing found. Thanks in advance eh btw: Is there a list with all Windows 10 packag…

Hi, I need to build in my Win7-ISO (WinToolkit) a function setting a link on the desktop to start a program (WPI.exe). The WPI-Folder is in the ISO and I want that the final user has to start only this link. After the Win installation the ISO is still mounted (VM) or the DVD ist still in the drive. My problems are: I don't know, how can I make the variable %DVD% available to Windows during the installation and which command in a .BAT or .CMD file I need. Can somebody give me some hints? Hello, I discovered Win Toolkit yesterday and I have a small request. When we have 2 different patches for the same SW (example access), the msp file name is the same (access-x-none.msp in my example). access2013-kb3055016-fullfile-x86-glb.exe access2013-kb3085503-fullfile-x86-glb.exe Is it mandatory to rename the msp in order to have the 2 msp or do you extract both exe in the same msp file? Thank you Regards

I would like to know, if it's wise to use WTK to use the feature of creating a ISO file and rebuild the W10 image? I need to be sure, I don't like the idea that the install.wim is corrupted after this rebuild process.

edit: it appears that microsoft decided to change how activations work with old keys. this is a much welcomed change, and this topic isn't really relevant anymore since this change “If you install this build of the Windows 10 Insider Preview on a PC and it doesn’t automatically activate, you can enter the product key from Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 used to activate the prior Windows version on the same device to activate Windows 10 by going to Settings > Update & security > Activation and selecting Change Product Key,”

the new NUCs (NUC5PPYH and NUC5CPYH) come without an external USB 2.0 port so usb 3.0 drivers need to be loaded for a winows 7 installation. I can prep the final installation with the USB drivers, but I think the boot.wim is not injected with the drivers as well. how can I put the USB drivers into boot.wim?

  18. Hi All, I've been very excited playing around with Win Toolkit this week, and although I've hit a few brick walls and a few speed humps I've been streamlining my install image to become an ultimate tool. My current problem is more of a nuisance than anything else, but I'd love to get it resolved to complete my 'full Windows 7 install' experience! I've integrated all General, Security and Hotfix updates and integrated x64 and x86 images to have a complete A-I-O installer, the latest problem I've had though is that during the Win Toolkit Additional Installers section I am getting an error referring to 'shutdown.exe' (I will run it again and get the specific error and …

Hi all, I would like to know if it's possible to change the list of silent installers can be changed, after Wintoolkit has finished the job. Restarting wintoolkit, is one way to adjust the runonce list. The 2 files, WinToolkitRunOnce.exe & WinToolkitRunOnce.exe.config, are located in the install.wim system32 folder. I thought by adjusting the file "WinToolkitRunOnce.exe.config" I could change some minor settings. But these file doesn't show the list of installers. Any suggestion?

  20. Hi All, I've been playing around with Win Toolkit for the last few days and keep hitting the same brick wall - I keep getting the error "windows could not configure one or more system components" after install. I am using a windows 7 SP1 All Versions (including both x86 and x64 architectures all-in-one) as the source (which has been working fine to install all versions of Windows 7 over the last few years and has been very convenient to have all versions on one usb, just inconvenient to have hundreds of updates after a clean install!). I used the inbuilt updater to download and integrate all updates (select source, select all x86, integrate all updates, add dotnet4.5 …

  22. I only use the Administrator account, and being forced to create a normal user account on install is very annoying. I tried using autounattend to get around this, but it still happens. I know its possible to force Windows to skip this step and just boot straight to the Administrator account, but how does one do this? Thanks.

  23. I've spent a whole day trying to make a slipstreamed Windows 7x64 ISO with Wintoolkit. The actual integration of 200 odd updates seems to go fine over 2hrs 20 mins. But the Wintoolkit ISOmaker always produces a huge ISO : 8.6GB, from 4.3GB files in the working folder. And choosing to rebuild the image or not makes an ISO exactly the same size! I started with a Windows 7x64 SP1 ISO, and I've followed the instructions here to integrate updates. http://www.wincert.net/forum/topic/12103-16-juin-2015-update-list-gdr-pour-windows-7-sp1-x86x64-fr-en-de-es-it/page-1 I've been using the latest Wintoolkit 1.5.3.21 Is there something I could be doing wrong? Hi Lego, I don't have an issue, I'd only like an explanation . After windows restarts, during "Preparing desktop" (or similar) RunOnce Installer has already started before its windows appears (it was always so) and when its Windows appears 2-4 silent-installers (size dependent?) have already been installed. It seems to be a time-problem, at which time RunOnce Installer starts; caused by the small bug in version 1.5.4.Test2 it starts delayed after I confirmed every program and I can see already the installation of the first silent-installer. Is there a possibility to influence this behaviour? Again: it's not a bug and I can live with it. Thiersee
