Win Toolkit

I have an old WIM file used for deployment on client machines that I did not originally create. Its a little outdated so I used Win Toolkit/DISM to integrate all needed windows updates. However most of the Office updates are all .cab files with .msp's inside them. Is there anyway to update office with Win Toolkit or another workaround? Everything else works beautifuly Thanks!

Hi everyone, today I built a new Windows 8.1 image with WinToolkig 1.5.3.13, adding some "runonce" installers and also a custom $OEM$ dir with its setupcomplete.cmd. The result is that Wintoolkit installer gui never appeared but setupcomplete.cmd had been executed. So here's my question: is the post setup gui installer supposed to work even with a custom external setupcomplete.cmd script? Where is the gui .exe file located inside wim file? I hear that the update cache file (?) makes loading updates faster? If so how it it used when making a slipstreamed disk from an original, say win 7 iso, with sp1 already integrated. regards...

Hey there, I've just registered, because I haven't found an answer to the following question: If I integrate updates to an install.wim. with WinToolkit, do I really have to do it for all images "separately" ? Or can I only integrate them to the "Ultimate" image? I mean, the files that are used by the setup from the install.wim are the same for every version (home, home prem, usw...) aren't they? Hi first of all let me say that this isn't a bug of WTK. No, I removed probably a installation pack, that contains the necessary drivers for recognition. But I can't figure it out which pack this is. So this is a cry for help, any suggestion would be very appreciated? Camino

I have been putting together an addon that bundles Windows Vista Mail, Calendar, Movie Maker, Dreamscenes, Hold 'Em, and a few other extras. The problem is that I need to register some dll files after Windows install using the regsvr32 command, but I cannot figure out the [RunCMD] part of the tasks file (I read both tutorials on the subject and tried addonmaker), nor can I figure out how simply execute a cmd after install like I could with nlite and Windows XP. Without this neither Windows Movie Maker nor Windows Media Player toolbar will work. Could someone help me with this? Thanks. (Also, I intend to upload this to the community when I have it working.)

Hi All, I am new to this forum and to Wintoolkit. Basically what I am trying to do is to take a clean Windows 7 sp1 X64 image and integrate as much updates as possible. I did a run without all the optional updates. This iso would install just fine but I would like to create a image where I could have optional updates as well, like IE11 etc. Unfortunately when trying to do this I get errors while installing the image in VMware player. I've been trying to search the forums and found some posts about certain updates conflicting and they should be left out. Is there a list of known updates which can't be integrated even tough they are still downloaded by wintoolkit? …

Good mornig! I'm having a problem when I try to use Win Toolkit with RT7 Lite. I get a "corrupt file" error message at the end of instalation. What I'm doing (all tests are made in VirtualBox): Export the WIM image I want (Professional, in this case) from DVD with WTK, and creat a ISO. I test this ISO on a VM and installation finished without errors. Then, again with WTK, I remove components, make a new ISO and test again. Installation sucessfully. Now, I get the WIM and open it with RT7 Lite. Remove components, make other ISO and test. Now, I get the message saying a file is corrupt, and installation cannot continue. So, I invert the process. I'm getting ready to reload the OS on my computers and while researching, I found that the iso that is pulled down using the Windows Installation Media Creation Tool will allow me to use my Windows 8 key to install 8.1. I wanted to go ahead and get the latest updates rolled up into the latest image, but Win Toolkit doesn't appear to recognize this iso since it doesn't have an install.wim, but rather an install.esd. Is there anything being done to support this or am I out of luck? I'm not going back and installing 8.0 and then perform the multitude of updates to bring it up-to-date.

Is there a way to set the sefault TimeZone with WTK? I am thinking putting something like the following in SilentInstaller (RunOnce) via a command file that has been converted to an SFX:: DISM /image:<MountName> /Set-TimeZone:<TimeZoneName> If my idea seems feasible, what MountName should be used? DISM documentation says that any value contained in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\TimeZone can be used in <TimeZoneName>.

Hi I know there is still development going on with wintoolkit but I just wanted to know: What does Wintoolkit do for windows 8.1 ?? I guess all im mainly interested in is removing the metro desktop tablets crap of windows 8.1 I have tried but wintool seems to fail at removing things? Hi. So, here goes.... I am a computer teacher/I.T guy for the school at which I work. We live in a very remote part of Canada and have limited internet connectivity in the sense that all our bandwidth is delivered via satellite. Given our schools bandwidth, or lack thereof, re-deploying a client machine can take hours as I am at the mercy of all the wonderful updates Microsoft has to offer for my machines. Hello I'm new for using WintoolKit andAlready made a Install for W7. I have a synology NAS with PXE server for install that work great and fast but I would like to deploy App after install and unfortunatly the appfolder is'nt avalaible anymore. Is there a Option to set the Appfolder to a network share ? Thanks a lot for any help

I've been told the reported software has been removed from the installer so I will give it one more chance. Just for a month though. If you get anything installed which is dodgy then let me know in this thread and I will report it.

Hey guys, I tried out the WIM-Manager tool today, and liked the cleaning option saves about 600mb of the total size nice! Now i did notice the Upgrade Image option that seems to be able to change Starter or a diff version to a higher one, though not lower but the name does state upgrade but oh well. Now the question here is, if i check the sizes of each index they are different ultimate will most likely be bigger then starter. I would assume it does have more files then starter included ? So if i Upgrade Starter to Ultimate will it have all Ultimate features + functions and accept a proper Ultimate license etc ? Is there any downside to doing this ? If not i can jus…

I am a little Lost ;( I have been using the wintoolkit to create great windows 7 operating systems with no problems at all. So I wanted to start using wintoolkit to start creating cool OS's of windows 8.1. Doing things like removing the retro crap from 8.1 so it looks and feels like 7. I downloaded all the latest versions , I think I got 3 versions on my desktop all saying they work with 8.1 I tried to remove the retro stuff from 8.1 It just didn't work and I ended up getting all mixed up on what did what lol So I guess I want to know what the correct version is to use to remove the retro desktop of 8.1 ??
